sweating

Several meds have sweating as a side effect but unfortunatly we need to take them. Whuat was worse was scince I was sweating the suntan lotion got into my eyes, and was waterproof. Our facets spray, instead of drip so I had a miserable day and just hoped my tears would deconstruct it and it would be gone when I woke up. It stung. The headband sounds like a better idea. I got a no more tears baby type suntan lotion for this year. My dermatologis says u only need zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. the brand that got in my eyes was cotz. I always get suntan lotion wiped in my mouth to when trying to wipe away the sweat. But it is fine for the rest of the body, it says it is for sensitive skin with spf of 40 for both uva and uvb. I tried to find a hat with a wide enough brim, but everyone I tried scratched my neck or back. My mother got melanoma on her face because back 80 years ago they didn't think that the sun could hurt you. And there are like 4 other skin cancers you can get. sunscree

Excessive sweating

I too thought my excessive sweating was from taking narcotic pain meds. I have weaned myself off the hydrocodone but I still have bad attacks of sweating when I am out in public, it is embarrassing but I know that I have these problems so I just go on about my business. I think some of it is caused by anxiety, and the fact that our nervous system is damaged. I use cornstarch baby powder after showering and it helps.

sweating like its raining

I too sweat but the funny thing is more when it is just warming than when it is really hot, I can sit there in the freezing cold and work up a sweat just looking at the housework needing to be done, apart from my undiagnosed fibro, I am also post menopausal with severe disabling back pain lol and they still dont understand why I am in entire body pain and fatigue since my car accident. Today even was a task in itself, I was laying there on my bed to get some relief in my back when all of asudden my entire face felt like it was on fire and I was sweating again like there was a no tomorrow, or as I like to say it has been raining and I couldn't miss the drops, since the sun is shining outside, it always gets a laugh. Yes it is very embarrassing but then I find even though I cannot control it, I laugh and continue on, since no one but us understands what we are going through xx

fms sweating

I have felt too badly to do any housework since coming off of opiates, but I was wondering how many of the people are experiencing the sweats from the meds for pain. Like I said, I am off of them now, but when I could clean my house, i.e. vacuum etc. I would sweat so profusely that it would run from hairline into my eyes and start burning my eyes so i couldn't see. Just wondering how much of it is related to side effect of pain narcotics, and how much is actually related to FMS? hoping to have a good day soon, so I can CLEAN, will write back if sweating continued after cessation of narcotic meds.

I'm suffering from the sweats too!

I went into sudden surgical menopause, so I never really experienced any symptoms prior, except the usual pain I have from Fibromyalgia and arthritis. I find the sweats hit me at the most inconvenient time - usually when I'm bundled up for the cold weather! Everyone around me can be freezing, but not me...I'll be the one with sweat pouring down my face and the back of my hair :=) I've taken to carrying a silk fan with me, so I can cool off when needed. It works great...but now I've developed tendinitis in my elbow from fanning myself. It just never ends!

Depressing

I have suffered from excessive sweating problems for pretty much my whole life and i'm now 20. People don't quiet understand the feeling of been uncomfortable. Excessive sweating problems can effect alot of things we do in life. Eg: when your on the train, you can't hold on to handles. Writing on paper with sweat patches. Wearing tongs and knowing your feet are sweating and if you wear shoes it makes it worse from the smell. While your eating, your hands are dripping sweat. Sitting in a room with cool weather your feets are dripping sweat, they are lots of way that effects me from sweating. Even when to the doctors acouple of time for some advice, most of them say they can't do anything about it and some say do botox which cost a fortune and it dosen't last forever, you got to keep going back every 3 months. At times it makes me so depressed knowing how annoying it is to have to deal with this. And yet there is still no solution to it.. shame

A little better

Earlier this summer (June and July) it was very hot/humid/poor air quality in NYC and I would sweat all the time. My husband and I would fight about the temperature of the AC because he was cold and I was pouring sweat. All my life I hardly ever sweat and now, 16 years into CFS, it's been a problem. It seems to have improved in the last month or so on its own. I have no idea why.

Extreme Sweating

I can be just sitting and the sweating starts at the base of my neck. I have gone through every test available for "sweating". I told my doctor last November that it must be my fibro. My doctor came back at me and said "I have other fibro patients and they don't have excessive sweating. Then the next time I saw her I told her that in my opinion, I have FM/CFS/ME. She said "no" to the CFS. Well, I go in the first of Oct. and guess what, I AM PRINTING ALL OF THE ARTICLE AND ALL THE RESPONSES, THEN LAY THEM DOWN IN FRONT OF HER. Might be looking for another doctor, but I will cross that bridge when needed. We know our own bodies better than any one. Thanks for all the responses, always helps to know that others are in the same sweating mode as yourself.

excessive sweating

My doctors keep telling me the sweating is due to perimenopause. I'm only 40. I've always thought it was my fibro causing it. I had to cut my hair off because it is always wet. Even when it is cold outside. Getting a haircut is embarrassing because you don't want to hairdresser to think your dirty. I'm glad to know it's probably my fibro causing it.

excessive sweating

I have had a problem with excessive sweating for years. I pour sweat from my hairline area. Just last week i was outside and sweat poured from my hairline my entire face was very wet. It was very embarassing and draining. I asked my doc about it also and did not get an answer. I have been trying to research to find help. No solutions yet. Any suggestion? It is very difficult to get out with this problem. Thanks

Sweating and Shopping

I have 3 grandchildren getting married in the next year so I've been shopping for dresses for me...what a joke!! The minute I get out of the car and walk into the store, the sweating starts. The last time, the sales girl had to literally peel the top off me! Talk about embarassing! I'd hate to be the next person to try that sample on! I've resorted to shopping on the internet or out of catalogs, having the clothes sent to my home, and trying things on when I'm not sweating. If I don't like them or they don't fit, I just send the clothes back. A few years ago I was attending one of their college graduations, and even had handicapped seats. Just before it was over, I started sweating and shaking. My daughter got me to the lobby and right into the bathroom to splash cold water on me. In pictures you can see how much redder my face is compared to others and how my top looks wet! This is so embarassing and I feel miserable when it happens! I'm better off just staying home!

Sweating

I have been dealing with the sweating for at least twelve years. It was with me pre, during and post menopause which is now. It can happen at any time. at any temperature, indoors or out. My hair gets wet during these times and I can't do a thing with my hair, I just sweat away until it's over. It is uncomfortable to say the least.

chronic sweats

As with all of the other replies, I sweat horribly with the least little exertion. My head starts to feel HOT and before you know it...I'm soaked. Shopping and trying to get ready to go out are the worst times. I have found a few ways to at least slow it a bit. I ALWAYS carry one of those mini, hand held fans with me. I also carry a bottle(or a few) of almost frozen water. When the sweats start, I start guzzling the water. I find a place to sit down and relax and put the fan on my face and hairline. I have also heard that there is a cooling neck wrap/scarf or something of that nature made by "Hot Mammas". I have not purchased one yet, but I intend to. I have, on occaision, used a tissue soaked with alcohol and then I just wipe it on the back of my neck and around the edges of my hairline. No one perfect solution, but these have made it easier to cope!
