A supplement that works for me
- I've been using Fibralgia since I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2005. It contains Magnesium (magnesium malate magnesium stearate - vegetable) 80mg and Malic Acid (magnesium malate) 350mg. Other ingredients are Maltodextrin, silicon dioxide (powdered silica), gelatin and water. When I started using this, none of my symptoms changed significantly that I could notice. However, I persisted with the encouragement of my husband. Weeks turned into months. I then skipped a few days for whatever reason and the amount of pain that hit me left me sick in bed. That was when I realised just even though the changes and benefits have been slow and over a long period, it has indeed been helping. This supplement is definitely not a quick fix. I also do exercises such as walking and line dancing, I eat healthy (lots of fruit & veg) and my sugar intake is very minimal. I also drink a lot of water.

It takes a holistic approach
- My CFS started in 1975 but wasn't diagnosed til 2008. In 1997 I started to have serious emotional problems and have taken CNS meds since. They keep me stable but for my fatigue I go to an anti-aging specialist who gives me a regimen of supplements tailored to my needs and monthly IVs of glutathione & B vits. I have done a low carb diet since 1984 but found the GAPS diet last year. It helped my energy, my mood and helped me lose weight. Recently, I found NTI Healthy Aging supplement w/the NT Factor, which gave me more energy and darkened my gray hair! Now I'm taking NTI's Aller-Avert b/c I have many food intolerances. I rely on 2 specialist MDs, a chiropractor and a wellness coach who uses electro-dermal screening to determine which supplements and in what doses will work for me. Now I feel as if I have a life and am not in bed all day, but I am still unable to work.

Trying to alleviate CCFS/Fibromyalgia
- I bought some food supplements such as D-Ribose,Creatine,Electrolyte,_-Taurine and L-Tryptophan. I tried them for about 8 weeks and they didn't work. I SHOULD KEEP TAKING THEM BUT i KEEP FOGETTING,BESIDES SOME OF THEM TASTE FOUL. About 1 month ago I bought some capsules of 5,000 iu's of Vit D,daily+ Vit K - 100uG's daily + Vit B Complex, but they Havn't worked yet, either. I am going to stay with the NHS Immunology clinic as long as I can, and see if they can help me ? I also desperately want to be referred by my GP to the 'Pain Clinic' in Hull,as well.

What helped the most!
- What has helped me the most is a multivitamin called FibroResponse. It is carried on many websites but I found it to be more reasonable on VitaCost.com - I feel as different as day and night when I take them. It is recommended that you take six tabs a day but, I have found significant results with 3 a day. I also take Magnesium Malate. It has been found that a number of people with fibromyalgia have Vit D deficiency. So, I suggest taking that also.

supplements
- I take fish oil, Vitamin D the dr. prescribes becuz mine is so low 50,000 units every 2 wks, I supplement that with a calcium every night before bed as I have learned taking Calcium on an empty stomach prior to bed absorbs better into ur bloodstream. I also take a multi-vitamin, sublingual Vit. B-12 spray every morning; Malic Acid w/Magnesium-this is the best for helping Fibro pain-I really do notice the differance when I run out and am without for a few days. I take Potassium also as I get the cramps and the body tremors at night w/my fibro and it helps with that-it assists in my sleeping better. Those are the ones I have tried. But I do really recommend people get there supplements at a health-food or Nutrition store--they are purer and better quality--you can also find them online.

What Works For Me
- I have tried just about everything over the years I've had fibro (about 30!), but here's what really seems to help: CoQ10 100 mg of the good stuff, ubiquinone, a day (definitely gives me more stamina, energy), l-tyrosine 500 mg (1 in morning, up to 3x a day, really seems to help with my memory and fibro fog!), l-theanine 100 mg (1 in morning, two in afternoon, definitely helps with anxiety and pain, two can head off a flareup from overexertion!), 1 gram liquid fish oil (pain), and 2 Women's Passion Booster, a mix of adoptogens (gingko biloba, eleuthro etc.) that helps with energy. If i miss any of these, i can tell! I also take Magneium malate, D3, and Bosmeric-SR (tumeric and boswellian, which reduce inflammation)--but i don't notice a dramatic difference if I stop taking them. I get the Women's Passion Booster, bosmeric, and theanine from Sanjevani Health Center, they are pharmaceutical grade--you can order online. Unfortunately, none of this is cheap! But they do help.

Supplements for CFS
- My doctor put me recently on a regimen of supplements that consist of: D-ribose (2 * 5 mg per day), CoQ10, acetyl-L-carnitine and magnesium. This is in addition to the other supplements I had been taking: a good multivitamin, Omega 3/6/9, Zinc, B vit. The D-ribose seems to really make a difference, I have more energy and stamina since starting it.

Supplements
- I have been under doctors care for years taking everything including and not limited to narcotic, sleeping meds, depression med and on. I hated them so i looked into what you are all talking about> I take most all that have been mentioned for the last 4 yrs or so, since I quit working. They DO WORK you do have to find the right combo for yourself but these are all a great place to start. I have not ever tried the Mirac one. Ill look it up though. But we need to rebuild function and pain meds to cover the pain just doesnt work. If they have not worked then you need to stay on them longer. I have not seen on here Juvonon it is a great one also. I have 11 herniated disk, fibro, CF, and Depression but these supplements have kept me going for the last few years Ive been down the other road for 20 yrs of pain....so try the supplements it take a while but they are the only way to go after years of RX meds, its worth it. Best luck to those willing to move away from RX to natural cures.

- I have tried everything and nothing works, 20 years of this and at 70 it has escalated to an intolerable level...I was told it does not progress, not true...acpuncture worked for awhile and I had to go twice a week and could not afford to do so.....I have never gone holistic but I am considering it....New rheumatologist next week and my options are open....

shosh
- i see remarks from Sharon Levin in your column. she has been my lifesaver and has worked out a BIG regime of supplements for me including what to take when my immune system is down - often - and put me onto a medical doctor who prescribes the correct supplements for me considering my medications. it is expensive, but i have a reasonable lifestyle except when i have flare ups due to circumstances beyond my control!! since taking these supplements i am a different person!

sleeping supplement
- I tried a free (?) sample of the sleeping pill Somnapure because I am a total insomniac and have been since I was 11 years old. I am now 72. I was expecting zero help but to my amazement, it has worked a pure miracle on me. I still take my prescription pill but once I get up to go to the bathroom three hours after going to sleep, that is the end of my night's sleep. Consequently, the next day I am ina total fog and my pain from fibro is devastating. But since I have taken Somnapure (with my doctor's permission) I am a new person. No, I don't sleep 8 undisturbed hours but I am relaxed enough to wake the next day totally refreshed. I have only been on it for a week but life is a joy instead of the usual hell. AMAZING. It is manufactured by Peak Life. Let me stress that I am in no way connected with the company so I am not trying to sell the product to anyone

supplements are a scam
- I have tried a million supplements, making lots of these naturopathic docs rich. None of them helps at all. Some even give side effects as bad as the drugs (which I also get no help from). Only things that help a little are thyroid supplements and cranial sacral therapy. Unfortunately my docs keep refusing to prescribe the thyroid since my blood labs are normal. But they really lower the pain for me when I can get them. (I'm constantly on the hunt for new docs just to get the thyroid. Makes me feel like an addict, which I am not! I also have been rejected for insurance because of the diagnosis of fibro in my records. It has been a completely useless diagnosis and very harmful to my ability to get medical care.)

SUPPLEMENTS
- Supplements are not there to 'get rid of the problem' but to assist the brain and body to recover what FM and CFS, Adrenal Fatigue ME sufferers are not able to 'make' within the organs and cells responsible for Immune, lymphatic, brain systems. Advise all not to halt their meds, but to find and INTEGRATIVE+ANTI AGING healthcare consultant/clinical nutritionist/specialist for REAL help and advise as each person requires individualised protolcols and follow-ups. Shared-responsibility is essential, direction on taking, and withdrawing from allopathic meds wherever possible essential. Remember - YOU are in charge - NOT any professional who VICTIMISES YOU and makes you THINK you HAVE to take 'x drugs' to 'get well'. With these illnesses, you WONT.
