My Early Symptoms Were
Felt like I had the flu every day, sick to my stomach, ached all over. How Long I Was Sick Before Diagnosis
Spent 2 1/2 years going from doctor to doctor, tried many different medications, which in the end ruined my stomach. It was my own general practitioner that I had seen since I was 18 yrs old (I am 65 now) who figured out what I had, because his daughter, a nurse, had the same thing. How Many Doctors I Saw
4 different doctors, including 2 rheumatologists, who in the early 90's didn't even know what I had.How Doctors Treated Me
Too many doctors treated me, thus tried many different medications and my stomach suffers from this. Can't take any NSAID's.How I Felt Before My Diagnosis
I was sure something was wrong, but it was difficult convincing not only my doctors, but my family too.How My Diagnosis Changed Things
I learned by reading online about different treatments. My son (40 yrs old) has it and now my brother (age 59) has it. Lyrica has helped with the pain, but pretty much I have learned to hike up my big girl panties and move on, as they say. I know this pain and fatigue will always be with me. I have yet to learn not to do too much and then pay for it. I still work full time, but plan on retiring next year, age 66.Advice
- Keep on pursuing with doctors, there are those out there that are now very familiar with this syndrome.
- It would be nice to be able to retire under Fibromyalgia as a medical condition, but I think that it is a long way off.
