Definition:

A type of white blood cell that's critical to the immune response. T cells attack virus-infected, foreign or cancerous cells. T cells also can activate or deactivate immune cells.

Research suggests that people with chronic fatigue syndrome may have reduced T cell response to certain infectious agents, supporting the theory that many symptoms of the condition may be caused by a chronic immune response possibly triggered by an abnormal response to common infectious agents.
