Definition:
Fibromyalgia is a syndrome characterized by chronic widespread, frequently severe pain in the muscles and connective tissues, as well as numerous other symptoms including fatigue, poor sleep and cognitive dysfunction. It was formerly known as fibrositis and used to be thought of as similar to arthritis. Now, research suggests that fibromyalgia is a neurological condition.
