Definition:
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs) drugs are inflammation-fighting drugs that do not contain steroids. They also are not narcotics. In addition to anti-inflammatory properties, these drugs are commonly used for pain, reducing fevers and thinning the blood.
NSAIDs sometimes are effective for people with pain related to chronic fatigue syndrome, but are generally ineffective against pain from fibromyalgia.
