Interpreting Lab Tests With Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

How many times have you gotten test results in the mail and wanted to know more about what those numbers mean?  The letters I get usually just give my result and say either normal, high or low.  However, I want to know if I'm at the low or high end of normal.  For example, is my thyroid hormone level on the low end of normal, indicating that I might benefit from a higher dose of replacement hormone?

Something new at About.com can help you figure out what those numbers mean.  It's called the Lab Test Interpreter, and it contains information provided by Harvard Medical School.  You can find it here:

It can help you better understand results of 11 of the most common tests doctors request.

Other free resources that are available to you here include the Symptom Checker, Find a Doctor from UCompare Health Center, drug information at Drugs A-Z, supplement information at Natural Medicine A-Z, and the ADAM Health Encyclopedia.

These are all great things to bookmark when you have a chronic illness like fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome and need to access health-related information frequently.

I had lab work done last December. I received a call that they were okay. I went to doctor in October to get new prescription for pain meds at which time she discussed my lab results with me which revealed thyroid problem and high cholesterol so I was put on two meds which should have been done 10 months ago.

Thanks for the resource! I didn’t know about that one, but here’s another good web site that I’ve been using:

My dad has been creating a book exactly on point with this blog, I have emailed the internet page over to him
so he could pick up a couple pointers.
Fantastic post thank you!
