A nutritious diet helps a lot of people manage symptoms of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Some people get a little help from the right foods, while others improve tremendously.
The Food of the Week series is aimed at letting you know which foods have properties that can help specific symptoms, so you can remember to incorporate them into your diet and possibly even find ones that knock down symptoms as they start to ramp up. A big fruit I’d suggest for a special focus is the mango. There was an experiment I read about, as I recall done by maybe Gatorade which considered which fruits gave the most energy to athletes after they had been exhausted during half-time and found mangoes were superior to the traditional use of oranges (with the added energy availability supported apparently when comparing their biochemistry).
I searched a little for it just now and found this at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sportacademy/hi/sa/healthy_eating/newsid_3670000/3670687.stm , though I remember a fuller article elsewhere.
I found mangoes to indeed give a lot of energy, and besides that they don’t add to acid reflux problems like oranges can (though not as good when you’re on the border of having a cold). I especially like to eat them if I need a boost in the morning or before a potentially tiring social situation, assuming they’re available.
