I recently mentioned an all-natural mosquito repellent my friend made before our recent camping trip, and I got a lot of requests for the recipe so here it is! (It's not an exact thing.)
Ingredients:
Witch Hazel
The following Essential Oils:
- Lemon Eucalyptus
- Citronella
- Cinnamon
- Lemon
- Peppermint
- Lavender
- Cedar
- Rosemary
Use 1 cup of witch hazel as a base. Mix 2 parts lemon eucalyptus, 2 parts citronella, and 1 part each of the rest. Add 1 Tbsp of the oil mixture to the witch hazel. Spray on generously.
I haven't tested it extensively, but it worked well for all of us. Let me know how it works for you!

I like this idea. Any followup on how well is work?
I really liked this website about mosquito control, http://mosquito-trap-review.blogspot.com/
They review different mosquito control items, most of them are chemical free too!
I read on Dollar Stretcher that you can use the yellow Listerine in a spray bottle. I haven’t tried it yet but that sounds pretty simple.
Tnx for these suggestions.. However, i am severely sensitive to * Lemon Eucalyptus
* Citronella
* Cinnamon
* Lemon
* Peppermint
* Lavender
* Cedar
* Rosemary , i mean, they make me just as ill as the chemicals, do, at the time of exposure..
This is very similar to a blend I make. I usually leave out citronella but add tea tree, lemongrass and neem. If you find witch hazel too drying, you can use grapeseed or fractionated coconut oil as a carrier.
The original Listerine (or store brand) mixed with water in a spray bottle. I mix half of each together. I was originally utsing it for my dogs but I’ve started using it on myself and it works great not just for mosquittos but black flies as well.
