Sodium Oxybate for Fibromyalgia: New Results Released

Thursday June 25, 2009

NEWSBRIEF: As promised 2 weeks ago, Jazz Pharmaceuticals Inc. has released preliminary data on its drug JZP-6 (sodium oxybate) for fibromyalgia . The company says the late-stage clinical trial provided further evidence that this drug, which is the active ingredient in Xyrem, is an effective fibromyalgia treatment. A significant number of patients treated with sodium oxybate saw pain and fatigue drop by at least 30%, the company says.

Jazz says it plans to submit a New Drug Application to the FDA by the end of 2009. Barring any delays, that could put this drug on the market by late 2010.
