Better Sleep Month Series
Do your legs get twitchy at night, as you relax or try to fall asleep? You may have restless legs syndrome (RLS), which is common with fibromyalgia.
Common symptoms of RLS include:
- Odd sensations (parethesias) or unpleasant sensetions (dysesthesias) in the legs that cause an uncontrollable urge to move
- Movement provides some temporary relief
- Sensations occur or are worse at night or when you rest
- Symptoms similar to fibromyalgia, including excessive daytime sleepiness and problems with concentration
I deal with RLS sometimes, but fortunately not all the time. For me, it tends to occur along with other dopamine-related symptoms, and when I use supplements to boost dopamine levels (rhodiola and theanine), it goes away. Dopamine-effecting drugs are sometimes used to treat RLS, along with several other types of drugs.
Do you have RLS symptoms? Are you diagnosed with it? What treatments have you tried, and how have they worked? Share your experience by leaving a comment below!

Sounds weird, but I will take some tylenol and ibuprofen together & it seems to help take the edge off of these symptoms. Otherwise, I just get up & walk around for a bit or get on the computer for an hour or so & it will go away. If that doesn’t work, I wake hubby and have him rub my legs.
