New Year's Resolutions for Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
The approaching new year has me wondering what I can do to improve my health in 2009. I've been pretty lax lately, and I'm paying for it, so I know I need to do some things for myself. It's easy, though, to make a New Year's resolution only to forget about it by March or so, so I'm also trying to identify things that will help me stick to it. Here's my gameplan:
- Be more consistent about exercise. Right now, I don't have a good routine. My plan is to DVR Sit and Be Fit every day and start my morning with it. (Did you know the woman behind Sit and Be Fit has chronic fatigue syndrome?)
- Get back on the diet I stuck to for 7 months of last year. My resolution for 2008 was to lose weight for my 20-year high school reunion. I did really well on a low-cal diet, but I crashed so hard after the reunion that I went off of it and haven't gone back on. This year, I plan to use Calorie Count to help me stick to it.
- Establish a better cleaning routine. I procrastinate too much when it comes to housekeeping, and I need to be better at doing things when I have the time and energy. It stresses me out, and if we're having company, I wear myself out cleaning it all in one day. To tackle this issue, I plan to sit down with my husband and come up with a daily schedule for both of us that suits my limitations.

Ha! I am exactly the same when it comes to cleaning the house. I let it all go and then when someone is coming over, I get it all done and pay for it for the next week or two.
I’ve been wanting to hire a maid service but my husband won’t let me.
Darned husbands! (Just kidding - I wouldn’t get through a single day without everything mine does!) I keep hoping we’ll have room in the budget for a maid service, but so far it hasn’t happened. Maybe someday!
