MedWatch Alert: Certain Drugs Purchased on Internet Found Unsafe
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has discovered that a number of people who ordered Ambien, Xanax, Lexapro and Ativan over the Internet actually received a product containing haloperidol, a powerful anti-psychotic drug. Haloperidol can cause muscle stiffness and spasms, agitation and sedation.
The packages these drugs arrived in were postmarked in Greece, however, the origin of the pills is unknown. If you have received any of these medications from an Internet seller, click here to check photographs of the questionable tablets and their shipping packages. If you received pills that resemble those in the photos, notify your healthcare provider and report the suspected products to the FDA by submitting a product quality problem report.
The FDA is reissuing its warning to consumers about the possible dangers of buying prescriptions drugs online. Read “Buying Prescription Drugs on the Internet? Use Caution.”
