MedWatch Alert: Heating Pads Recalled
HoMedics has issued a nationwide voluntary recall of certain of its heating pads. The recalled heating pads were produced in 2001 and shipped within the U.S. in 2001 and 2002 to Walgreens, other drug stores, discount stores and department stores.
They have determined that some of the heating pads contain an inadequate connector crimp, which could lead to a high resistance connection that might generate excessive heat. There is a risk of minor to first-degree burns as well as possible fire or other damage to the heating pad or materials that come in contact with the pad.
Check the full HoMedics recall notice for a list of specific models involved as well as a diagram and instructions on how to tell what year your HoMedics heating pad was manufactured. If your heating pad is one that is being recalled, discontinue use immediately and return it to the retailer from which you purchased it for a full refund.
